On 26th June 1988, the foundation of Kashmir Academy of Sciences was laid to organize and patronize scholars, scientists, technologists whose sincere struggle may bring a better change in the field of science and technology and in imparting higher and qualitative education in the state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and its allied areas. On Twenty First Day of January 1989, the draft of the Charter of the Kashmir Academy of Sciences, prepared by the Coordinator General, was approved by the General Council for the management and conduct of the affairs of the Academy. Kashmir Academy of Sciences is a non-political and non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered under the Act-1860. At present, the Head Office of the Academy is at Muzaffarabad with sub-offices at different places.
